“Keep Valentines free…I have plans for us…Involving fancy dress… ”

Possibly the best email I’ve ever recieved, was not sent by my boyfriend, but my best friend. And she would give no clues. Her only explanation? “Because you’re my sweethearts, I’m taking you out for a special treat”

If it was possible to love her anymore, I did in that moment. Not only was it just the sweetest thing, but because she made me realise what Valentines Day was really all about. Earlier, I was speaking to a partnered off work mate who was complaining V day was all a huge commercial con, and we should celebrate it every day … yada yada. I then turned to listen to the story of a single colleague who would spend the day by herself, reminising of loves gone by… blah blah.

The point?

Love is Incredible. Whether Single or partnered off, loved up or heart broken, we should definitely take this opportunity to celebrate it. Be it with your partner, family, friends or just yourself.

If you are by yourself on this special day then embrace it… Remember you are your own lover, so love yourself.

Get a facial, a massage, go shopping, go dancing. Whatever your facebook relationship status is… still go out and buy the raunchiest set of underwear, wear red all day, write a good old fashion love letter, or surprise your friends with a little treat that possibly involves fancy dress…

 
Failing all that, the 14th is the birthday of George Washington Ferris Jr, who invented the Ferris Wheel! So for those of you are aren’t feeling loved up, a trip to your nearest fun fair for a quick spin, might be perfect! xx
